Wistron recently won 32- and 40-inch LCD TV orders from Sony, with shipments to kick off in the second quarter of this year, according to today's Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

With the new orders from the Japan-based company, Wistron are expected to boost its LCD TV shipment target to 1.2 million units, up from the original forecast of one million, said the paper, quoting industry watchers as saying.

Wistron declined to comment on the report.

Last August, industry sources indicated Wistron will start shipping LCD TVs to Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 2007, with the amount of shipments at 200,000-300,000 units.

At the beginning of this year, Wistron was reported by the Chinese-language Commercial Times that it has received orders from Sharp for 20-inch LCD TVs, with shipments to reach 350,000-500,000 units in 2007.

Wistron's current largest LCD TV customer is US-based vendor Westinghouse Digital Electronics, according to a recent report from Morgan Stanley.
